Woods Institute and the National Park Service

Our History Working with the National Park Service

For over 30 years, Patricia D. Woods, Ph.D., President of Woods Institute (WI) delivered the module on Congressional Operations and the National Park Service (NPS) for the Managers Institute for Public Policy’s class (MIPP) class that took place in Washington, DC on Capitol Hill. for National Park Superintendents. Members of Congress and their staff, NGOs and NPS legislative affairs staff and budget staff have participated as speakers in this three day course that is tailored to the issues and interests of the NPS.

Dr. Woods has been a guest speaker at a number of NPS regional meetings to provide an update on the policy process in Washington, DC and the NPS

Prior to the pandemic, WI delivered two hour webinars in 2017 for the Northeast, Midwest, and Rocky Mountain Regions of the NPS on the Trump Administration, the 116th Congress and the NPS.

WI’s former on site training continues to be delivered virtually since the pandemic with one to three h ours webinars for clients, i.e. NPS Northeast Region in March of 2021 on the Biden Administration, the 117th Congress and the NPS.

WI plans to continue to deliver theses classes on Capitol Hill in person when the time is safe and or/virtually via webinar or multiday classes if this is the client’s choice.
